We were privileged to have Glynis Jones, Textile Curator at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney officially open our Costume Room’s latest exhibit ‘c. 19th Century Vogue’ on Monday 30 November.
Nearly 70 guests poured into the History House Museum’s courtyard for the opening and to enjoy the delicious finger food and drinks on offer.
Sensitively curated by Jenny Anderson and Di McLachlan, the exhibit reflects the cream of the Museum’s textile collection.
It has been a huge boost to our museum to have a person of Glynis’s stature visit over two days and share with us her vast knowledge of museum science, particularly in the field of textiles.
On the day after the Costume Room’s opening, Glynis also presented a well-attended Writing Significance Statements Workshop which was followed by a fascinating and very informative ‘Show and Tell’ with items brought in by History House Museum members and the Glen Innes community.
