As with many public venues, the COVID-19 virus has regretfully forced upon the Glen Innes & District Historical Society the decision to close the doors of the Museum until further notice. Effective as of Monday, 23rd March.

The Society has a fundamental responsibility to take care of the wellbeing of our dedicated and valued volunteers. The Beardies are all volunteers and many boast a wealth of years, some being engaged in the health challenges those years present. Taking into consideration the general demographic of the majority of our visitors – intra & interstate and international – the very real potential threat to health that exposure to the COVID-19 virus presents demands a response that minimises any possibility of coming into contact. Hence the decision to close public access until the current situation improves. We very much look forward to reopening and welcoming everyone back in the not-to-distant future. Take care and stay well.

NB: In this time of social distancing and self-isolation, we are currently still available for research and other enquiries via telephone or email. 02 6732 1035 /
