About the Society
In 1968, a public meeting, convened jointly by the Municipal Council and Severn Shire and at the request of the Adult Education Association, formed a committee to be known as the Glen Innes and District Historical Society.
The then Severn Shire President, Barney Brennan; Municipal Council Mayor, Eric Potter and Hospital Secretary, Archie Weir arranged a lease agreement for the old Hospital on behalf on the Historical Society.
Meetings are held at 9.30am on the second Monday of each month in the Eric and Rachel Potter Memorial Building (located in the rear of the grounds of the Museum).
All members receive free entry into the museum, a complimentary copy of the Glen Innes & District Historical Society Inc.’s Bulletin of local history annually and copies of the quarterly Newsletter.
